"Lakad" is Tagalog for move and "Karapatan" is Tagalog for rights. The Lakad for Karapatan is a 5k run that raises money for Filipino rights, supporting the Filipino Bayanihan center here in Portland as well as human rights movements in the Philippines. Revolutionary Bicycle Club will be pedaling to Columbia Park and then throwing on our running shoes and joining the race. Join us for the ride, the race, or both! Wear something bike-related in the race to show bike community solidarity with human rights movements ✊🚲 We'll be meeting at rainbow plaza for coffee and will be riding out NO LATER THAN 7:45 AM. The 5k starts at 9 at Columbia Park and we need to be there in time to sign in and warm up. If you want to run in the race, register in advance at lakadpdx.com. If you plan on riding there with us, send us an email or an Instagram message to let us know you're coming. We don't expect this to be a large group and we might leave earlier than 7:45 if everyone is ready to go sooner. If you want to go but don't know if you're up for a race, don't worry! It's totally fine to walk the 5k, or just hang out to support the runners. From 10-1 there will be a celebration with Filipino food and live music. All are welcome!
